Hi Roy,
Very interesting (and pleasing) to hear from you. As the genealogist in this saga - I do have a bit of information which I'm more than happy to share if you wish. In particular there's a more on your fathers full siblings. I will understand if you don't want to take it further. Best wishes, Phil

I was born in London in 1960 and my first school, Brettenham Primary was in Edmonton, North London. There was a lady at the school called Mrs Gisby, whose role I suppose was school nurse/welfare officer. She had (dyed?) auburn red hair in a curly 1940's style, and bright red lipstick. I have never forgotten Mrs Gisby's name, and how she looked. She did not have a London accent. I wonder if she is related to you?

Hi Joan,
Thank for your comments. I don't know of this lady, but there's every chance we have a connection due to the unusual name. A frustrating difficulty of Family History research is following lines from historical dates back to the future. It very much depends on interested parties getting in touch and comparing notes on their own ancestors. I've "acquired" a lot of new relations this way!
Best wishes,
Phil

Phil and Brendan Gisby are cousins who met on Facebook.  They share the same great-grandfather, Charles George Gisby, who was born in Margate in 1859.  They're writing a book about old Charlie and his five sons, with Phil supplying the research and Brendan the words.  They've set up this website as a way to share their progress and receive feedback on it.

Click on the Foreword tab at the top of the page to find out how the project began.  Then use the other tabs to dip into the Gisby saga so far.

If you're related to old Charlie, no matter how remotely, and you would like to contribute to the project, feel free to add your comments to the Cousins' Blog posts on this page.  Phil and Brendan would be delighted to hear from you!
